Last Friday night, we decided to head out for a date night.
We drove over to Hogs Back Park, in Ottawa, Ontario. The park overlooks the spectacular Hog’s Back Falls on the Rideau river.
We started our walk there then followed the path running parallel along the water. There was many areas along the way where the path branched out and you could get right to the edge of the water, which we gladly did.
We had fun watching some ducks bathe in the water, can you spot him in the picture below?
It seemed like the path followed the sound of the water which was really neat, from time to time you could see it directly through the trees, other times the path would lead away from it a little bit.
One thing is certain, the path was stunningly beautiful, the sun was shinning through the trees and the weather perfect for an evening like this.
The path brought us to what seemed to be a rest area where there was plenty of benches for whomever needed a little rest.
Walking a few feet down the stone steps brought you to a small lookout circled with stone half-walls (the ones overlooking the view having a metal railing attached to them for added height and safety).
We watched a squirrel running amok in the park, it was quite funny to watch. We manage to capture him mid-jump from a rock to another before he disappeared.
We then made our way across the park to the bike path which lead back to the parking area, stopping along the way to take a few pictures of the surrounding nature.
All this to the sound of a marching band which was practicing in the park.
We finished off our evening with a meal and drinks at East Side Mario’s before stopping in at Lowe’s.
On our way back home, we realized that it was the Ikea midnight madness sale so we decided to stop in a get a few extra items for our home.
All in all, it was a beautiful evening spent together.
